After the season, or during the first session of the year, we see the same scene daily in the workshop. Someone comes in with a punctured kite, a torn wing, or a bar that's acting strangely, fearing they'll have to write it off. Spoiler: usually, you don't have to. In this article, we explain what a kite repair costs, when repairing is smart, and when you'd better replace it.

What does a repair cost?

Most repair costs depend on the extent of the damage. Replacing a valve is different from a leading-edge that's torn halfway open. That's why we work with "starting prices," so you know what to expect without us making false promises.

The MOT inspection: know the value of your gear

This is a topic hardly anyone talks about, and precisely for that reason, it's important. In collaboration with the NKV (Dutch Kitesurf Association), we've set up our own MOT inspection for kitesurf and wing surf gear. For a fixed fee of €40, a professional will thoroughly inspect your kite, wing, or bar.

The MOT inspection is widely applicable. Here are a few moments when it more than pays for itself:

  • Once a season as a health check for your gear, before you go full throttle for a season.

  • Just bought something? Picked up a second-hand kite or wing and want to know its real condition? An MOT gives you the answer in black and white.
  • Selling something? Show an MOT report to a potential buyer. Much easier to negotiate, and you'll almost always get a better price than without proof.

This is what the MOT inspection form looks like:
